frosty lips and pale skin

how to go from this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us to this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

all done in psp 7 but should be the same in other programs

first we have our image already resized Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

go to Layers>Duplicate and do this twice

make sure the top layer is active

then go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set it to 2.00 like this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

then you should end up with this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

then go to the layer palette and select overlay on the top layer like this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

your image should now look like this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

click layer two to make it the active layer.

now go to Colors>Adjust>Channel Mixer and make sure your settings look like this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

now it should look like this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

go to Layers>Merge All(Flatten)

then add any other effects or text you would like to you icon

and we end up with this Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

play around with it,changing the opacity of the top layer will change the finished outcome

other Icons made with this effect Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

In the step involving the channel mixer, it appears that you used the monochrome option but did not put it in your graphic to reflect as such.

Thought you might like to know.
i didnt use the monochrome,if monochrome is checked then it will keep original color.but uncehecked turns it grey.
*keep the
*unchecked

have you tried this?

Okay, perhaps I am mistaken, but this was done in PSP 7 (I have 7 & 8 and Photoshop CS) and I was just wandering about in search of a way to kill boredom and came across this. Seemed interesting enough to try.

When I got to the step involving the channel mixer, I set it up the way you have it detailed and it did nothing to the layer. When I checked the monochrome option, it greyed out the face of Stefani just as you have depicted.
hmm thats odd.i just tried it and when i select monochrome it keeps the color but when i uncheck it i goes grey

when i select the mochrome option, the par that says "red" changes to "green"
I went back and screwed around with it again and now it is achieving the desired effect both ways. I can get it through the method you list and through the method I originally mentioned.

Blasted wonky program.
well atleast is works.thanks for tryin my tut

wow, that's an amazing effect.
thanks. =]
